Spring-time is here!
Winter is over at last!
The air feels softer,the sun warms our faces....
Everywhere looks so different,with the land changing its white blanket for a new,colorful cloak,dazzling with new life.
The birds end the long silence,singing their songs to welcome the spring.
There is plenty of food to feed their growing families,now!Flowers appear in the twinkling of an eye.
buds open out on the trees,which spread out their new branches.

bella goes to rome

"All roads lead to Rome...."-so the saying goes.But for Bella,the little bell,things were not quite so simple.....
she had left her village the evening before,and now,she was well on her way.
"Excuse me,Swallow,"she said,"but can you tell me how to get to Rome?"
"Thank you !"cried Bella.And on she flew,going exactly the way the swallow had told her.
"There's a mountain ahead,"Bella thought."My goodness,it's high!Good thing I'm not afraid of heights.But it gets colder,The higher I go,and There's still some snow here..."
It took some time for Bella to fly over the snow-covered peaks.
"Atishoo!"she sneezed.
"oh,dear!I've caught a cold!"
And passing through a valley,Bella grabbed on a hedge.she did not want to have a bad chest!
At last,the little bell came to Rome,ready to get her store of chocolate eggs for Easter.
"you are the last customer!"the shopkeeper told her."take these back with you and hurry along!do not get lost on the way!" 

the honey-bee and the daisy

bumble,the honey-bee,loved all the flowers in the garden,but the daisy was his favorite."what's the news today?"he said.
"have you got any nice nectar for me?"
"just as long as you do not tickle me too much!"smiled daisy.
"Mmmm..."said bumble,"do you know,your nectar is the best for miles around?It's all thanks to you that we make such good honey!would you like to know how made it?"
"well,"Bumble went on,"after I've been here,I go back to the hive!"
"And is it true that you dance?"daisy interrupted.
"well,"said bumble again,"I fly in circles and I hum,to show other bees where the nicest flowers are.Then i put my nectar in the honeycomb of the queen bee,so that she can make honey."
"would you let me taste the honey?"Daisy asked her friend.
"of course,"buzzed bumble,"but the honey is not meant for us! It's to give to children and grown-ups for them to enjoy!"

April fool!

the first day of April is the day when we play jokes on people.Paul always looks forward to it.The trouble is,he can never think of anything very funny to do.
Last year,for instance,he tried painting goldfish blue-until his dad came in and stopped him .Julie and Mandy,his sisters,remember only too well some of the cruel tricks he has played on them in the past! so,today,they have decided to play a trick on Paul and get their own back!
Now,everyone knows that Paul can be very greedy-he likes eating cakes best of all.
Little does he know that he is in for quite a surprise.......

For more than an hour,Julie and Mandy have been in the kitchen,putting the finishing touches to their surprise cake.Paul is getting very impatient.
"Haven't you finished , yet?"he keeps asking.
"hear it is!"They call out at last.And they put a huge cake down on the table in front of him.It looks so delicious that Paul cannot wait to taste it!He grabs a knife,ready to cut himself a big slice-
only to find that the blade does not even make a mark.Julie and Mandy have made the cake with modelling day!

the greenfly and the ladybird

In summer-time,when it is really hot,there are often swarms of little greenfly all over the rose bushes,around the stems and on the leaves,not worrying at all about the prickly thorns!
one greenfly was gentle tickling one of the rose petals where he had been for most of the day.And,as he was feeling very full,he decided to have a nice rest.
"ah,"he thought,leaning back comfortable,"it's a good life,here !"
he felt very happy as he fell asleep.But that greenfly was not very clever.He had decided to tack a rest,when hunters were getting nearer ever minute......
it so happened that a ladybird flew down on to the rose bush
gently,she closed her wings and began climbing up from one stalk to the next.
"ooh,I'm so hungry!she thought to herself,seeing some of the little creepy-crawlies which would make a very good meal,indeed!
By now,the greenfly had woken up,listening.Sensing the danger,he pushed a drop of rose-water,so that it slide down on top of the ladybird,making her go somewhere else for her dinner.

mimi and the cuckoo

"That bird is getting on my nerves!"
Thought Mimi,The kitten."The next time he dares to put the tip of his beak outside.....I-I'll get him!"
But Mimi did not know one important fact.The cuckoo she hated so much was made of wood,and only came out of clock to tell the time!
well,the minutes passed,and Mimi waited.Then-tick-tick-tock!Suddenly,the little door in the clock opened and the bird appeared.
"cuckoo!cuckoo!"Mimi leapt up and reached out her paw.but instead of hitting the bird,she caught the pendulum,which broke and fell to the bird,she got a good hiding instead!

the hare and the tortoise

 there was a once a young hare who lived in the heart of the country.
He was a very handsome hare,and so fast on his feet,that he was quite sure nobody could ever beat him.
He liked to make fun of the other animals,especially a little tortoise.
"you're so clumsy-looking!"he would say."why,just look at your short,little legs and your stubby,little head!and how slow you always are!"
one day,the tortoise decided that he'd had enough of the hare's unkind remarks.
"you think you can run fast on your long legs and big feet!But mine,short as they are,can go just as fast!"

"DON'T you believe me?" went on the tortoise."then I'll give you a race!"
"all right!"laughed the hare.
At a signal from the fox,the two started off.The tortoise lost no time in going along as fast as he could.but the hare,full of scorn for the tortoise,thought he might as well have a nice nap on the grass......After all,he thought ,he would have plenty of time to catch up and win the race!but when he woke-why,why,the tortoise was at the finishing line!he had won the race and beaten that boastful hare!

the lion and the rat

the lion was feeling very pleased with life!he had just eaten a good meal.
now,he was settling down far a nice,comfortable snooze.he was in a very good mood.

suddenly,the ground trembled ! before the lion's eyes,the earth rose up and a hole appeared,closely followed by a fine pair of whiskers! it was a rat - quite astonished to find himself between the paws of a grate danger.only one false move,he knew,and he would be no more . but the lion,king of the beasts,was quite amused by the little creature who had disturbed his rest.
he invited the rat to go walking with him!
the rat was so glad to think he was still alive,that he thanked the lion and they went off together.
the lion had spared life of the rat.but the rat was about to save the life of the lion.because,as they walked a little further,the lion,big the and strong,was caught in a net.but the rat ran quickly away.
then,with his sharp little teeth,the rat gnawed and nibbled until he had chewed through just one stitch-and the whole net came undone!
which shows that pationce can often succeed where strength fails.

pippin,the little bird

pippin was a little bird who lived in the country."how dull your life must be,pippin,"said a seagull one day,"just flying from tree to tree without ever seeing anything else ! I travel everywhere,from the sea to the wide,open spaces!"
"that's true!" pippin sighed."I do not care what anyone says! I must fly away from hear,right away! I can't stand this dull life a moment longer!"
pippin felt so proud as he flew towards the stream,then the river flowing down to the sea.
"wonderful!"he cried,quite forgetting how tired he felt after such a long journey.

when pippin first reached the sea,it all looked much more beautiful than the country.but when he searched for somewhere to rest and something to eat,things where different.on the advice of another seagull,he perched on the mast of a ship.
"This is terrible!"he thought."the trees back home did not move like this!"then ,he had his first taste of fish.
"ugh!"he cried in disgust."i could never eat that!"
perhaps,he thought,living in the country was not so bad,after all........................................

mother mouse makes a deal with pussy

          THREE LITTLE mice lived with their mother mouse in a log cabin owned by a farmer.the four of them lived very happily running here and there until the farmer brought home pussy.
          From then on wards the farmer showered his love on pussy and taught her the art of looking after the house.In the meantime,Mother Mouse and her three little mice shifted from one place to another in order to avoid detection by pussy.

         days passed.pussy grew fat and lazy.the mice grew thin,as they could not fin enough food in the house.pussy used to sleep throughout  the day after a heavy meal of fish or milk.the mice fed on the throwaway food items.

          in the night,however,pussy kept a constant vigil on the log cabin.If anything moved,she was the first person to investigate.this made the movement of mice difficult in the night.mother mouse thought she must meet pussy and come to a settlement.

     "hi mother mouse,where have you been all these days?"asked pussy welcome her.

     "well,things are not so good these days.after your arrived,we are unable to move freely in the house."complained mother mouse shedding a tear.

    "hold it! have i ever threatened you or asked anyone of you not to move in this house? for that mater,i don't know  how many of you are living in this log cabin,"
said puss.
          "only four of us.me and my three little naughty ones,"said mother mouse.
         "i'll tell you something in confidence.i am under orders to kill all the mice in this house.now that we have made friends how can do that?however,you and your children should not run around while my master is in the house. I want to send your children to my small cabin.they will be well looked after,"said pussy.
    on the following day mother mouse handed over the three little mice to pussy.Thereafter she did not see anyone of them.
      One day mother mouse met pussy and made inquiries.
     "the eldest one was fine,"said pussy.
    "oh! how nice of you to say such a thing about my eldest fell,"said mother mouse.
    "the next one was not bad."said pussy
    "is he ill?"asked mother mouse.
   Ignoring her stupid question,pussy said,"I dispatched the youngest one this morning."
  "oh! where did you send him?please tell me."
 pleaded mother mouse.
  "wait!I'll dispatch you to same place," said pussy jumping on to mother mouse.
